Introduction:
At home.hetnet.nl/~ex_baba/engels/articles/Conway1.htm, Timothy Conway published a particularly confrontational response to a letter that J.Jagadeesan wrote in October 2000 about the Sai Controversy. This webpage contains Moreno’s response to Timothy Conway’s critique of Datuk J Jegathesan’s Letter.
Moreno’s Comments About Timothy Conway’s Critique Of Datuk J Jegathesan’s Letter: Jagadeesan’s comments are in blue, Conway’s are in light grey and Joe Moreno’s response follows.
Timothy Conway: Criticizing the irrational, malicious “defense” of Baba by J. Jagadeesan by Timothy Conway, Ph.D — March 12, 2001 / Dear Friends, J. Jagadeesan, a longtime Sai devotee and prominent Southeast Asian Sai organizational leader and author of Sai literature, in October, 2000 issued a revised “Open Letter” to his Sai Brothers and Sisters. In this letter, he at-tacks those critics of Baba who are concerned about the extensive allegations of criminal sexual behavior. [Note that many of Jagadeesan’s same words and ideas are reiterated by Baba in his 2000 Christmas discourse.] I have already written extensive critical analysis of the written views of prominent American Sai devotee Jack Hawley and author Ram Das Awle. Because Jagadeesan, like Hawley, is such a hugely prominent figure in the Sai movement, his views deserve to be carefully examined and challenged where they err. Hence I present the follow-ing critical response to his open letter to the Sai community. –Timothy Conway
Moreno’s Response: This webpage was created to criticize the irrational, malicious and poorly referenced “defense” of Ex-Devotees and alleged victims by PhD Timothy Conway. I have already written a detailed and scathing response to Timothy Conway regarding the Jack Hawley Letter. Many of the main points made in my prior response are repeated here because Timothy Conway has a tendency to parrot his feral attacks over and over again, ad nauseam. Consequently, I am forced to repeat my prior arguments so that readers will not think that I have glossed over Timothy Conway’s serious and criminal allegations against Sathya Sai Baba.
From the desk of J. Jagadeesan (Malaysia) Date : 30th October 2000 Open Letter – Revised Version!
a) All Malaysia Leaders of Sai Centres and Youth Coordinators
b) All Youth Coordinators and copied to all Central Coordinators / Zonal leaders
Re: The Sai Movement – The Future – The External Threat (Revised Version)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Recently, I sent an open letter to all Malaysian SAI leaders and youth coordinators on the subject of “The Internal Threat” of how behaviour among members, youth and/or leaders can undermine the work done by the or-ganization and the good name of SAI. Subsequently, I addressed the issue of “The External Threat” to the SAI movement. Since this has been well received as useful, I am taking the liberty to send a Revised Version of this letter to all who may be interested.
The “INTERNET” has become both a curse and a blessing! A blessings for those who seek to advance the boundaries of knowledge and to communicate good and noble thoughts to all at the click of a button, and a curse to all who use this incredible technology to indulge in filth and negativity! I am specifically referring to the spread of negativity about Bhagawan Baba by forces that have their own agenda of Action!
Unfortunately, since youth are the ones who most extensively use the Internet, they are often both the perpe-trators and victims of this insidious campaign to malign the name of one of the noblest beings, who has walked the earth — nay — a Being of Divine Majesty who walks this earth. Let me put this to you in the crudest terms possi-ble, for I have no better way to demonstrate to you the grossness of the actions some are taking! If you see faeces on the ground, would you take it and hand it over to your friend? And after handling the dirt, even if you wash your hand the smell lingers on…at least in your memory!
[NOTE FROM TIMOTHY CONWAY (hereafter abbreviated as “TC”): notice how Jagadeesan, rather than address the serious charges made by a growing number of people willing to testify in a court of law to the truth of what has happened to them with Baba’s sexual predatory behavior, instead simply equates these people and other truth-seekers with “faeces-handlers.” This is an attempt to smear (no pun intended) the reputations of those who are trying to uphold Dharma and the laws of the land that would protect children and young adults from sexual abuse.]
Moreno’s Response: To Date: Not even one alleged victim (out of alleged “hundreds to thousands”) has even attempted to file a basic police complaint or court case against Sathya Sai Baba in India in the past 10+ years (so much for the claim that alleged victims were willing to testify against Sai Baba in a court of law).
One would think that parents of molested children would be the most pro-active in seeking justice for alleged acts of sexual impropriety perpetrated against their children. However, in the case of Sathya Sai Baba, not even one parent has come forward and filed a basic police complaint, affidavit, public grievance or court case against Sathya Sai Baba in India (or anywhere else for that matter) for alleged acts of pedophilia (Ref).
It is not surprising that Timothy Conway blindly believed the allegations against Sai Baba. Although Timothy Conway possesses a PhD, he is a gullible true believer in Gurus [3], Mystics [3], Enlightened Masters [3], psychics [1] [2] [4], levitation [5], bi-location [5], miracles [5], remote-viewing [4], elementals, meditation [2] [6], paranormal powers [5], aliens [4] [10], rebirth [1] [7], reincarnation [1] [7], karma [8], oracles [2], I-Ching [2], sensitives [1] [2], channelers [1] [2], astrology [2], astrologists [2], palm-reading [2], non-duality [9], etc. (the list goes on and on).
Timothy Conway also attempted to argue that if Sai Baba possesses paranormal powers, he could easily “warp spacetime” by creating an “insular interdimensional environment” where he could engage in abuse without easy detection. That’s right, Timothy Conway believes that it is possible that Sai Baba molested alleged victims on another dimension, which is why it is so difficult for them to prove their allegations and why there is an abysmal lack of witnesses supporting their claims (Ref: Conway Email No. 10).
Ex-Devotees have exposed themselves as mentally unstable defamers who care less for truth and dharma and care more for sleaze and sensationalism.
[J. Jagadeesan, hereafter abbreviated as “JJ”] That is why I urge all — “do not read the filth that is being transmit-ted — for even if you doubt and reject every word, the stain will remain and affect your peace if not your devo-tion”. Just click “delete” or toss it into the waste bin!
[TC: In other words, says Jagadeesan, collectively stick your head into the sand and go into pathological de-nial in the face of the serious charges about Baba.]
Moreno’s Response: This is an amusing response considering that Timothy Conway and Ex-Devotees collectively stick their heads in the sand and go into pathological denial in face of the abysmal lack of evidence against Sathya Sai Baba. All the internet rumors against Sathya Sai Baba cannot make it into a court of law despite the seriousness of the allegations and despite the rampant claims of “overwhelming evidence” and “irrefutable facts”. If it looks like rhetoric, sounds like rhetoric and is unsubstantiated like rhetoric: It’s Rhetoric!
[JJ:] If you hear someone hurling vile accusations about your father and mother would you pass this on to your friend?
[TC: What if your father or mother was a chronic child abuser? You are, under law, actually REQUIRED by the “MANDATED REPORTING” RULES to report such allegations of child molestation and abuse. Otherwise you are an accomplice to the crimes if/when they are prosecuted in a court of law.]
Moreno’s Response: Using Timothy Conway’s logic, “hundreds” and possibly “thousands” of alleged victims and their mothers and fathers have all (without exception) refused to do the “moral” and “ethical” thing as there are no known “child molestation” charges, court cases or basic police complaints filed against Sathya Sai Baba in India. The alleged parents to these alleged “minors”, “children” and “male youth” have all (without exception) failed in their legal duty of “mandated reporting” and are thereby (according to Timothy Conway) “accomplices in sexual molestation crimes”. If “hundreds” to “thousands” of parents are not complaining about the alleged molestations of their children, why should Sai Devotees make complaints based on internet rumors? This indisputable fact strongly solidifies the argument that Sathya Sai Baba never molested children.
[JJ:] Yet this is what some adults and youth are doing! Some do it in mistaken innocence of a gossip monger, who even though he / she does not believe in the gossip, feels a sense of “self glorification” by being the one to pass on the gossip…with a conniving whisper “have you heard of this?”
[TC: None of the serious investigators is a “gossip monger.”]
Moreno’s Response: This is a bold-faced untruth. Timothy Conway is a gossip monger and Ex-Devotees are malicious gossip mongers (fully documented with screen-caps, links and their own words). Just one small example: On Timothy Conway’s website, he referenced Basava Premanand’s book about me (Ref). Premanand libeled me (Ref) and even claimed that I was sexually abused by Sathya Sai Baba (Ref). This is the type of person that PhD Timothy Conway loves to cite against others. Instead of taking a stand for morality, truth and dharma, Timothy Conway takes a stand for libels, defamations and maliciousness. Therefore, Timothy Conway’s Anti-Sai Activism is not surprising in the least and his pro-assessments of Ex-Devotee’s character are disastrously ill-formed, completely biased and patently absurd.
[JJ:] There are yet others, whose faith is weak, who have been involved with SAI, at a superficial level even for a long time! Others having possibly been denied of a miracle or favour from SAI, or ignored by Him after consider-able personal attention, eagerly take up this filth and pass it on to others — hoping that others will also equally deny the Divine force and majesty of SAI!
[TC: Jagadeesan is basically charging that all who criticize Baba are suffering from a “sour grapes” syn-drome, and this simply is not true. Mature, longtime aspirants who live by an ethics of Sathya, Dharma, Shanti, Prema and Ahimsa instead believe that there are now far too many stories, many supported by sworn affidavits, that something quite terrible has been occurring for at least 30 years -- a sustained pattern of sexual predatory be-havior by Baba toward male youth -- including minors perhaps as young as 8 years old. And I’m not merely talk-ing about Baba’s “annointing the perineum” of males, either. No, we are hearing from trustworthy sources persis-tent allegations of pressure and manipulation by Baba to engage male youth, and have male youth engage him, in forced oral sex and masturbation, often to the point of ejaculation.]
Moreno’s Response: It is significant to note that all of the currently vocal critics of Sathya Sai Baba were never sexually abused themselves and never witnessed an incident of alleged abuse themselves. Even going back to 2001, Anti-Sai sympathizers rightly questioned the hearsay allegations against Sai Baba (Ref). Therefore, critic’s claims and articles about alleged victims are entirely hearsay and second-hand versions and interpretations to what they speculate may have happened according to stories they heard, read and blindly believed. Therefore, is it true the many ex-devotees are suffering from “sour grapes”, including Timothy Conway.
Timothy Conway attempted to con readers into thinking that there are “signed legal affidavits” against Sathya Sai Baba. This claim is wholly unsubstantiated and based (ironically) on “gossipy rumors” that Conway blindly believed. As a matter of fact, Timothy Conway fully acknowledged to me (via e-mail) that he never saw an alleged affidavit for himself but blindly believed the “affidavits” claim based on information relayed to him by the late Glen Meloy. Then (in a subsequent email) Timothy Conway flip-flopped, changed his story and said he based his “affidavits” claim on the India Today article (which stated that Jens Sethi and Hans de Kraker submitted “signed affidavits” to them).
India Today’s relevant extract from Jens & Gurprit Sethi’s account was duplicated (verbatim) from their signed letter to David Bailey (who, since the year 2000, never referred to Sethi’s story as an “affidavit”). Jens & Gurprit Sethi’s signed letter to David Bailey was deceptively called a “signed affidavit” by India Today even though no Anti-Sai Activist ever specifically referred to Sethi’s story as an “affidavit”. India Today’s relevant extract from Hans de Kraker’s account was actually taken (verbatim) from a private letter he wrote to the French journalist Virginie Saurel. Hans de Kraker told me (via e-mail) that much of his private correspondence was made public without his permission. Hans de Kraker’s signed letter to Virginie Saurel was deceptively called a “signed affidavit” by India Today even though no Anti-Sai Activist ever specifically referred to Kraker’s letter as an “affidavit”. Even Michelle Goldberg (who cited the same letter in her salon.com article) did not refer to the letter as an “affidavit”. Therefore, Jens & Gurprit Sethi and Hans de Kraker’s signed letters were not actual “signed affidavits” sworn before a notary as fraudulently claimed by India Today (who were working exclusively in collaboration with critics and Ex-Devotees). Furthermore, Jens Sethi and Hans de Kraker were both adults (not minors) when they had their first alleged encounters with Sai Baba.
Ex-Devotees have revealed that they cannot distinguish between affidavits (which are sworn before a notary or other officer authorized to administer an oath) and stories that were never sworn before a notary or other authorized officer (Ref). Even Robert Priddy said that abuse stories were “recorded in various of the affidavits on the internet” (totally confusing online stories with affidavits). Timothy Conway never saw the alleged affidavits (with a stamp from a notary or signature from an authorized officer) for himself even though he had the audacity to claim (repeatedly) the alleged “affidavits” were signed, legal and in existence.
One will also notice how Timothy Conway uses numerous weasel-words (like “alleged”, “perhaps”, “possibly”, “seems”, “probably”, etc.) to phrase the allegations against Sai Baba (which is essentially an admission conceding to the limitations and lack of certainty pertaining to the allegations). Timothy Conway even claimed that Sathya Sai Baba had molested “minors perhaps as young as 8 years old”. This is a gutter and blatant untruth.
An anonymous account in The Findings (dubiously attributed to Dr. Bhatia) claimed Sai Baba raped a 7 year-old boy (since proven to be a ridiculous lie). Although the story alleged that the 7 year-old rape victim was examined by a doctor in Bangalore (whom allegedly confirmed the “rape”) the doctor did absolutely nothing about it, thereby engaging in an illegal cover-up by purposely failing to file a police complaint, which he would have been ethically and legally mandated to do (had it actually happened).
It remains unclear why the parents to the alleged victim would allow Dr. Bhatia to take their son for a rape examination in Bangalore (some 250km away from Puttaparthi), yet refused to take their own son themselves. Furthermore, the alleged parents to the alleged victim have never (ever) filed a basic police complaint or court case against Sai Baba for alleged sexual improprieties. These are the type of malicious rumors that Ex-Devotees are notorious for spreading, blindly believing and citing as actual events.
All of the known stories alleging sexual abuse on the internet do not mention one word about alleged victims being aroused to the point of ejaculation. As a matter of fact, all of the alleged victims (excluding Conny Larsson) said they were not sexually aroused in the least. Shame on Dr. Timothy Conway for spreading these malicious rumors that are not supported with credible, verifiable or legal documentation or references.
[JJ:] This is the pathetic story of the fox that got its tail cut and is now trying to persuade others that a “cut tail” is the fashionable thing to have! In the story of the “fox that cut its tail” the other foxes saw through the insidious plan of the fox and chased him away! Unfortunately, in the case of SAI Centres and SAI devotees, some “SAI foxes” have unwittingly allowed their tails to be cut and they are thus depriving themselves of the greatest chance of a lifetime!
[TC: We have here merely more childish name-calling and misleading analogies given by Jagadeesan to put up a thick smokescreen of fog so that people will not think for themselves and have any empathy for the plight of those trying to conscientiously investigate and expose many dozens of allegations of serious crimes against male children and young men.]
Moreno’s Response: Dear reader, keep reading and see who exactly is engaging in “childish name-calling and misleading analogies”. Keep your eyes open for Timothy Conway’s Nazi “name-calling” and Nazi “analogies”. One will also notice how Timothy Conway just said there are “dozens” of allegations made against Sathya Sai Baba (in fact, there are only six non-anonymous accounts). As this article progresses, one will see how PhD Timothy Conway shamelessly embellishes the numbers of alleged victims from “dozens” to “dozens or hundreds” and finally to “hundreds or thousands”.
Timothy Conway again mentioned the fraudulent “child molestation” claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website). Timothy Conway blithely tosses around serious and criminal allegations of “child molestation” and thinks it is entirely “appropriate” although he cannot substantiate his claims with credible, verifiable or legal documentation or references.
[JJ:] I say all this with certainty, for I acclaim the Divine Force that SAI represents, from the point view of one who was at one time a strong anti-Sai! It is thus not a blind “herd mentality” that I follow — but a firm conviction from not only my own experience, but that of many other devotees and even beings of the 4th dimension! I have written enough about these in my books “Journey to God” – Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 to warrant further elaboration.
[TC: This is, of course, no valid defense of Baba whatsoever. Jagadeesan is merely stating that he has a con-viction about Sai, and that he “acclaims the Divine Force that SAI represents.” But he does not substantiate any of this. Yes, his books tell some wonderful stories about Baba. But Jagadeesan is begging the question about Baba’s shadow side when he simply wants to tell you about the good things regarding Baba. Please realize that criminal pedophiles usually have many wonderful personality characteristics and can accomplish good things, even great things, in the world. This should not distract us from the fact that pedophiles are also committing criminal behav-ior.]
Moreno’s Response: Timothy Conway again mentioned the fraudulent “pedophile” claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website). Although Timothy Conway demands that Jagadeesan “substantiate” his claims, Timothy Conway does not substantiate his claims whatsoever. Defamers and fanatics can have degrees and wonderful personality characteristics. Their degrees and personality characteristics should not distract us from the fact that defamers and fanatics are engaging in reprehensible behavior that is intellectually and ethically dishonest.
[JJ:] It is an amazing frailty of the human mind, that those who have not transformed their lives despite for years hearing and reading the noble, elevating words of SAI, or reading / hearing noble and divine experience of others, are able in a trice to be affected by negativity and filth!! What a searing indictment on the human mind!
[TC: Jagadeesan engages here in more character-assassination of those who take seriously the serious allega-tions. What kind of “defense” of Baba is this by Jagadeesan -- merely engaging in a long-winded harangue of name-calling and character-assassination toward those who are deeply disturbed by stories from trustworthy sources?]
Moreno’s Response: It is indeed amusing that Timothy Conway is criticizing Jagadeesan for “character assassination”. By making this condemnation, PhD Timothy Conway is contrasting himself as a better person who does not engage in character assassination. Unfortunately, as the reader will see, Timothy Conway will soon begin his own form of “character assassination” by accusing Jagadeesan of being “demonic”, making erroneous comparisons between Jagadeesan and the Nazis (a gutter tactic he employed against Jack Hawley) and attempting to equate Sathya Sai Baba with “Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Pinochet and many others involved in ongoing atrocities”.
[JJ:] What Does Sai Say? Let me quote to all of you an extract of a letter from Sri Indulal Shah, the International Chairman! I quote:
[Shah:] “Some time ago I had circulated a quotation from Bhagawan Baba’s divine discourse. I reproduce the same below:-
[Baba:] “Many of you are pained by what some papers are indulging in, regarding me! Many are urging that something should be done about it. But, I am holding everyone back, for that is the best way to deal with both praise and blame. The ocean knows no overflowing or drying up. It is ever full, ever majestic and ever uncon-cerned.”
[Shah:] In my 35 years of association with Bhagawan, on several occasions He explains such incidents as “fly on an ear of an Elephant” which is not necessary to be disturbed or Baba reminds us that people will throw stones towards trees only if there are fruits. Let us collectively ponder what is our duty? It is our test on the path of experiencing Divinity. What vigil and fences have to be built around our organization? Let us remember nothing happens or moves without His wish. Everything that happens is for good, provided we are conscious of our Duty and personal efforts that should follow.”
[Jagadeesan:] If one asks me (i.e. Jega), who will be the one who will bend and break at the first adverse winds of allegations and filth: — it will be those who have remained in the periphery of the organization and those who have lived on the periphery of the SAI message. Also, those who expect something from SAI, those who want His constant personal physical attention, those who live constantly on the margin of SAI’s physical miracles, those who have not lived the message of SAI through Service for mankind and selfless love for all – these are the potential drop-outs!!
[TC: Jagadeesan resorts again to his only weapon, attacking the concerned, conscientious critics, accusing them of being “on the periphery,” implying that only those persons of inferior spirituality will listen to the stories about Baba’s sexual predatory behavior. But has it occurred to Jagadeesan, first, that many sincere Baba followers were so turned off by the shallow spirituality, ambitious conceit and lack of empathy among many of the senior Sai Organization leaders (like Goldstein, Jagadeesan, Shah, et al.) that these followers decided not to aspire to-ward greater organizational involvement? Second, Jagadeesan seems to be accusing the concerned critics of not living Baba’s message of “Service for mankind and selfless love for all.” I would submit, on the contrary, that many of Baba’s critics formerly in the Sai movement were longtime, tireless sevakas and many spent hundreds or thousands of hours serving as Center presidents, vice-presidents, Regional officers and coordinators, etc. Third, Jagadeesan should pose himself the question: What happened to the increasing number of formerly staunch devotees of Baba, some of them in his college and high school system, who have left over the last year or two because they could not ethically tolerate what they discovered about Baba’s behavior?]
Moreno’s Response: It is a fact that Anti-Sai Activists viciously attack, defame and libel concerned and conscientious Pro-Sai Activists (and even Sai Devotees who are not involved in the Sai Controversy). Jagadeesan did not attack any Ex-Devotee, did not mention any names whatsoever and made no references to any specific Anti-Sai material. Ex-Devotees have attempted to con the general public with claims that they are formally “organized”. They are not. Ex-Devotees created the bogus “Global Coalition” FDSSB, the bogus JuST Group, the bogus Sai Petition and the bogus Sai Petition Committee. Timothy Conway even allowed his name to be signed to a fraudulent Open Letter To The Prashanti Council. Consequently, the only people who engage in feral attacks against others are Anti-Sai Activists.
There is little doubt that Sai Devotees have fallen away from Sathya Sai Baba due to the allegations fanatically spread about him by Ex-Devotees. Even I was duped by the allegations and believed them for several years. However, I knew right from the beginning that many stories I read appeared to be motivated by anger, hatred and vindictiveness. This prompted me to investigate the Anti-Sai Movement and the shocking truth I discovered has thoroughly convinced me that Ex-Devotees are not credible or trustworthy. After all, when Ex-Devotees blatantly lie and libel me (Ref), what does this say about their claims and allegations against Sathya Sai Baba? I know, from direct experience, that Ex-Devotees and critics of Sathya Sai Baba are untruthful, malicious and pathologically obsessed with negativity.
[JJ:] Just examine silently those who have “dropped out” or turned against SAI, and you will discover this truth!
[TC: One does not discover any such “truth.” See the points made above.]
Moreno’s Response: Jagadeesan is right. Silently examine those who have “dropped out” or turned against Sathya Sai Baba and one will find (as I have) that many Ex-Devotees are pathologically obsessed with negativity, sex, rumors, gossip and vindictiveness. Several critics of Sai Baba (i.e., Robert Priddy, Sanjay Dadlani, Tony O’Clery, UsedByBaba, Barbara Dent and R.F.J. Sandt) have used numerous incognito internet names, attempting to pass themselves off as various individuals, including Pro-Sai activists and people of the opposite gender. This type of fully documented and very disturbing online behavior (Refs: 01 – 02) strongly argues that many of the allegations against Sai Baba may be entirely fabricated by mentally unsound people whose primary goal is to deceive. Timothy Conway rather stick his head in the sand and ignore all these facts because he is hopelessly attached to his delusions and disinformation and does not want to compromise the Anti-Sai Movement he so heavily endorses and solicits.
[JJ:] Do not condemn them! Do not vilify them – only pray that they find Peace and Love in their lives!
[TC: These words by Jagadeesan are so unbelievably hypocritical it boggles the mind. He has spent most of his entire letter thus far, and will continue to do so over the rest of his letter, condemning and vilifying the con-cerned critics with name-calling and character assassination, and here he tells his readers “Do not condemn them! Do not vilify them -- only pray that they find Peace and Love in their lives!” He doesn’t realize that the concerned critics are trying to bring some degree of Peace and Love and yes, HEALING, to the victims of Baba’s sexual molestation. The official Sai organization, by contrast, has not brought ANY Peace or Love or Healing to these vic-tims; rather, it has repeatedly tried to cover up the horror and has had the gall to maliciously slander and attack the victims and those who would try to enact justice in this matter.]
Moreno’s Response: Once again, where are the victims? Where are their families? Where are the charges, public grievances, basic police complaints or court cases? How is the Sai Organization supposed to address these criminal allegations when no one has filed criminal charges?
Critics are not trying to bring “peace”, “love” or “healing” to alleged victims. Former Followers have a nasty habit of sexualizing everything pertaining to Sathya Sai Baba and Sai Proponents. This deviant and perverse sexualization of Sai Baba is a highly prevalent tactic employed by former followers (even with absurd claims that Sai Baba is engaging in questionable sexual acts in full view of thousands of devotees while being recorded on video). For example, see the edited Ex-Baba movie clip entitled Sai Baba Groin (approximately 950kb, wmv file). Ex-Devotees have also maliciously accused me (Joe Moreno) of being sexually abused by Sathya Sai Baba despite my repeated clarifications to the contrary (Ref). I have also been targeted by critics and they have created numerous webpages to defame and libel me (Ref). This type of blatant dishonesty proves that critics are not trying to bring “peace”, “love” or “healing” as Timothy Conway ridiculously asserts.
[JJ:] Early this year, I released a book called “EVOLUTION – Science of Creation, Life and Living & Spirituality” – perhaps the most difficult challenge in all the books I have been motivated to write! In that book in examining the topic of the human mind, I touched unwittingly (or perhaps divinely guided) on this very topic that is causing so much pain and confusion in the minds of SAI devotees whose faith in yet to be fixed as firmly as the STAR to the crescent moon! I am attaching as an Appendix to this letter a brief extract from that book! For those who have the book, please refer to page 31, section 16 — “The 3 Forces of the Mind” for a fuller elaboration on this subject of the Human Mind and how it causes turbulence in life! [Excerpt from Jagadeesan’s Appendix reproduced here rather than at end of letter:] THE 3 FORCES OF THE MIND–This maya which affects the human mind has actually got three forces, or pol-lutants. One is called MALA, which is dirt, “the pollution”. The other one is the AVARANA SHAKTI, which can be called the cloak — “that which (because of the dirt) covers or disguises”, and the third is VIKSHEPA SHAKTI – what is projected, “the force of projection”. So in the example of the rope and the snake therefore, what is the relevance of the rope and snake in real life? It is this! The darkness represents the mala, the dirt and this creates the AVARANA SHAKTI, the cloak (that blurs the vision). The cloak is our inability to see through the darkness. The rope is an innocent object, but the VIKSHEPA SHAKTI (the force of projection), projects a snake onto the rope:- the moment the mind projects, every emotion is aroused in the person, fear, everything for a non-existent object – only because of his VIKSHEPA SHAKTI – ‘Projection’.
[TC: What Jagadeesan has done is simply bring out the classic analysis of primordial ignorance by Shankara and his followers in the line of Advaita Vedanta. It has no relevance to the discussion of the Sai controversy at hand. Jagadeesan is just as involved in Mala, Avarana Shakti, and Vikshepa Shakti as any of the critics who might not be perfectly realized Jnanis/Sages.]
Moreno’s Response: Actually, this paragraph is relevant to the Sai Controversy. As a matter of fact, Robert Priddy has written a great deal about “projection” and how he believes that Sai Devotees essentially “project” the positive onto Sai Baba. However, what Robert Priddy failed to discuss is how Ex-Devotees essentially project the negative onto Sai Baba. So if Timothy Conway does not think that the “projection” discussion is relevant to the Sai Controversy, then he just invalidated a great portion of Robert Priddy’s writings.
[JJ:] If you read the attached — you will see that this is the science of mind – the mind reflects onto external ob-jects that which its nature — it own perceptions! If you are aware as to who are the principle perpetrators of these vile accusations against SAI, (and the nature of their minds), you may come to your own conclusions! The other weaker minds only follow in innocence!
[TC: By this logic, Martin Luther King, Jr. and the heroic civil rights protestors were all “projecting” their own negativity in condemning racial prejudice and calling certain white supremacists “racist.” The French Resis-tance heroes and heroines were all “projecting” their own negativity in condemning Nazi atrocities and calling the Nazis “fascist.” And so on. Now, in the present case, those who are deeply concerned about the ethical improprieties inherent in Baba molesting children are “projecting” their own negativity by calling what is happening to Baba’s youthful victims “sexual molestation” and suggesting that Baba is, according to the conventions of human law, behaving criminally! Note that, using Jagadeesan’s silly logic, he himself, by engaging in this long-winded, verbiose criticism of Baba’s critics, is himself “projecting” the entire thing out of his own negativity!]
Moreno’s Response: There is absolutely no comparison between Martin Luther King, the French Resistance heroes and heroines and Ex-Devotees! Talk about delusions of grandeur!
Timothy Conway again mentioned the fraudulent “child molestation” claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website). When the alleged victims and their mothers and fathers have all (without exception) refused to file charges, public grievances, basic police complaints and court cases against Sathya Sai Baba in India, Timothy Conway should not fault Sai Devotees for doubting and dismissing the allegations as baseless and unsubstantiated internet rumors.
Timothy Conway has inadvertently refuted a great portion of Robert Priddy writings in which he claims that Sai Devotees “project” the positive onto Sathya Sai Baba. Of course, if Ex-Devotees can use this illogic against Sai Devotees, then I fail to see why Ex-Devotee’s whine and snivel when their same arguments are mirrored back at them.
[JJ:] “Close Devotees”: Some of you have been stunned by the fact that so called “close devotees” of SAI have dropped out because of this filth that is being spread through their ears and eyes and into their minds! Devotees who have had so many “interviews”, those who have received Baba’s divine manifestations (rings, pendants, etc) have dropped out and so our jaws drop in amazement! But, is this so unusual? Who betrayed Christ? Was it His enemies or those closest to Him?
[TC: Jagadeesan stoops even lower here, suggesting that Baba’s critics are like Judas. But the retort that we concerned critics would issue is this: Was Jesus alleged to have sexually molested hundreds of minors? Was Jesus telling children that, unless they had sex with him, then he would not see their parents? Was Jesus paying children for sexual favors? Of course not. Yet this is what is being alleged about Baba by credible eyewitnesses who claim to have experienced this unseemly side of Baba. So Jagadeesan’s analogy falls flat on its face.]
Moreno’s Response: Once again, Timothy Conway is basing his arguments on his fraudulent “child molestation” claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website). Therefore, Timothy Conway’s argument falls flat on its face.
It is also significant to note that although Sanjay Dadlani (a vocal Ex-Devotee) was caught requesting Jesus Pornography (he even admitted to making the requests), you will not find Timothy Conway expressing any concern regarding this perverse behavior whatsoever. Sanjay Dadlani was also caught photographing teenagers and unsuspecting female students at Middlesex University in the UK with his digicam (filming them on the streets, at bus stands and under tables) and posted hundreds of photographs on his Street Bitches blog. Even the webmaster for the Lake Of Flowers website (who happens to be friends with Sanjay) caught him in this shocking behavior and wrote an email documenting his findings for me to forward to University Officials (which I did). Needless to say, one will not find even one Ex-Devotee (including Timothy Conway) expressing any type of concern over this deviant and illegal exploitation of women and female teenagers. This proves that Ex-Devotees alleged sensitivities to sexual exploitation are huge and hypocritical pretenses.
Where is your dharma, morality and ethics now, Timothy Conway?
[JJ:] And did not Christ know who would deny and betray him and yet He treated them with love! Who dared wage a war against Krishna – those who were His enemies or those who went to Him seeking His help and to whom He gave His army to? Was not Ravana, the Asura who turned against Rama, close to Divinity, for was it not from the Divine that he received his powers? Was not Hiranyakasipu (the father of Prahlada), the Asura who turned against the Devas and even Narayana Himself, close to Divinity – for was it not Divinity who conferred on him the awesome powers he used, to deny Divinity!
[TC: Jagadeesan is trying to paint all concerned critics of Baba’s criminal pedophilia with the same brush, tarring them by associating them with Judas, the demon Ravana, the demon Hiranyakasipu, and the demonic enemies of Krishna. This attack strategy by Jagadeesan really stinks -- it is completely bereft of any integrity whatsoever. Rather than compassionately address the legitimate questions, concerns, and grievances of Baba’s critics, Jagadeesan, in knee-jerk fashion, can only lash out with A FURY OF NEGATIVITY THAT IS, ITSELF, DEMONIC in its lack of compassion, loving-kindness, and understanding. But rather than imply that Jagadeesan is a “demon” (I don’t like stooping to his level), I would simply invite him with all my heart to please try to look at this situation objectively and see that Baba’s critics aren’t the embodiment of some evil, demonic force. Rather, we are only trying to STOP AN ONGOING EVIL: the manipulative molestation of male youth by a guru who appears to have a colossal shadow side involving an insatiable sexual appetite.]
Moreno’s Response: Timothy Conway again mentioned the fraudulent “pedophile” claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website).
Jagadeesan is not comparing Ex-Devotees to demons. He simply pointed out that every Avatar has been attacked by contrary forces. With Rama, the contrary forces happened to be Ravana and various demons. With Krishna, the contrary forces happened to be various individuals and demons. With Jesus, the contrary forces happened to be various individuals. With Sathya Sai Baba, the contrary forces happen to be various individuals. Timothy Conway is twisting Jagadeesan’s words and misrepresenting them in an apparent effort to incite susceptible purveyors of malice and hatred. Timothy Conway’s intellectually dishonest behavior really stinks and is completely bereft of any integrity whatsoever.
After whining about Jagadeesan comparing critics to demons, what did Timothy Conway do? He turned around and accused Jagadeesan of being “demonic”! After accusing Jagadeesan of being “demonic”, Timothy Conway said he rather not “imply” that Jagadeesan was demonic (after he already did). Then, in another twist, after accusing Jagadeesan of being “demonic”, Timothy Conway ranted (in his signature pseudo-spiritual style) about Sathya Sai Baba being an “ONGOING EVIL”. Don’t expect PhD Timothy Conway to substantiate his claim that Sathya Sai Baba “appears to have a colossal shadow side involving an insatiable sexual appetite”. He doesn’t.
[JJ:] The Puranas and the history of all great souls are replete with stories of those who, once close, than turned against the Divinity they worshipped!
[TC: I could counter that history is replete with stories of sycophantic “yes-men” who came to the defense of people like Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Pinochet, and many others involved in ongoing atrocities.]
Moreno’s Response: Far be it for Timothy Conway to speak when he is one of those “yes-men” he loves to criticize. One will notice how Timothy Conway (sounding very much like an extremist and fanatic) tried to equate Sathya Sai Baba with “Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Pinochet and many others involved in ongoing atrocities”. This is not surprising considering that Timothy Conway even compared the sexual abuse allegations to alien abductions, believing that if Sathya Sai Baba possesses genuine paranormal powers, he could have molested alleged victims on alternate dimensions (Ref: Conway Email No. 10)!
[JJ:] How many of you are aware of the vile accusations hurled against the Buddha and Ramakrishna Parama-hamsa, during their respective lifetimes. And even on Jesus Christ even to this present day and age? How many are aware that like Bhagawan Baba (to avoid the chance of worse scandal) these great souls – (Buddha, Rama-krishna Paramahamsa and Jesus) surrounded themselves with only male devotees! And because of this, lower minds concocted their own filth and scandalized these great souls in the one area where no proof is possible, and no amount of denial can wash away the taint of evil, when once the accusation is made!
[TC: Jagadeesan again is speaking in a most irrational way. Jesus, the Buddha and Ramakrishna did not have dozens or hundreds of people stepping forth with persuasively similar allegations of sexual molestation.]
Moreno’s Response: Muktananda, Gurumayi, Ramakrishna (who was accused of being a homosexual and a child molester by Jeffrey Kripal: Ref), Neem Karoli Baba, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Chogyam Trunpa, Yogi Bhajan, Swami Satchidananda, Dalai Lama (see “Stripping the Gurus”), Sri Chinmoy, Mother Teresa (see John M. Swomley’s critical book), Meher Baba (who was/is often attacked by Christian Fundamentalists as a deceiver and false messiah), Yogananda, Jiddu Krishnamurthi, Swami Premananda, Jesus (the Gospel of St. Mark debate that some believe described a homosexual relationship between Jesus and a youth he raised from the dead and the Mary Magdalene debate), Mohammad, Ammachi (quite a few people have leveled numerous allegations against her) and others have been embroiled in controversy (including allegations of sexual impropriety). It seems to me that Timothy Conway has a self-serving, belief-preserving habit of naming only those gurus who do not seem to have controversies surrounding them and uphold them as life-savers to keep his faith afloat.
As the reader will notice, Timothy Conway here embellished his former number of alleged victims from “dozens” to “dozens or hundreds”. Soon, Timothy Conway will again embellish his numbers to “hundreds to thousands”. This type of shameless exaggeration is indicative of a chronic propagandist who lacks credibility and integrity.
[JJ:] It is perhaps because of this that Islam requires 4 eyewitnesses before a person can be charged for behaviour against norms of morality!
[TC: Jagadeesan may not be aware that, at this point in time, a few dozen signed affidavits have been made by a growing multitude of eyewitnesses -- young men and boys -- all willing to state their case in a court of law, that Baba has sexually abused them.]
Moreno’s Response: Timothy Conway again resorted to his faulty “sworn affidavits” argument. This time around, however, Timothy Conway exaggerated and claimed that alleged victims were willing to go on record (even in a court of law) and say that Sai Baba molested them as minors. Where did Timothy Conway get this information from? Although Timothy Conway told me he got his “sworn affidavits” information from the India Today article and Glen Meloy (on whose word he blindly accepted), it is peculiar that Jens Sethi and Hans de Kraker were adults when they had their alleged unsavory experiences with Sai Baba (not “minors” or “boys” as spuriously alleged by Conway). No one has been able to produce even one affidavit from any alleged victim. In 10+ years, no alleged victim has ever filed a court case against Sai Baba in India, thus refuting the claim that alleged victims said (and where did they make that claim to begin with?) they would testify in a court of law that they were “molested as minors”. As discussed earlier, Timothy Conway’s unsupported claims of “child molestation” have been refuted in my article entitled False Pedophile Allegations Against Sathya Sai Baba. The main thrusts to Timothy Conway’s arguments are based on stories and Anti-Sai propaganda that he read and blindly believed.
[JJ:] But these great beings prevailed; for dirt cannot taint the purity of the sky! Dirt flung upwards will ultimately descend on the perpetrators of the filth and the sky continues unperturbed continuing to offer its beauty to the accusers!! Bhagawan Baba has declared as such (refer earlier quotation).
[TC: Jagadeesan is here merely issuing idle threats that “dirt” will come back upon those flinging it. As long as we’re talking about “karmuppance,” let’s compassionately remember that covering up criminal pedophilia brings its own terrible karmic retribution. We critics are actually trying to spare the Jagadeesans and Shahs and Goldsteins long, stiff jail sentences (and, ironically, possible sexual abuse from male inmates and prison guards!) for being accomplices in these ongoing crimes committed by Baba.]
Moreno’s Response: More fanatic and absurd argumentation by Timothy Conway. Dr Conway should be more concerned about “compassionately” sparing the “hundreds” to “thousands” of alleged victim’s mothers and fathers from “stiff jail sentences” (and “possible sexual abuse from inmates and prison guards”) for being accomplices in alleged crimes they all (without exception) have thus far ignored. Once again, why should Jagadeesan, Goldstein or Shah make complaints when the alleged parents to alleged victims haven’t made any? This is the question that Timothy Conway should be asking, but doesn’t.
[JJ:] If Jesus who had 11 disciples, had in his last moments, one who denied Him and another who betrayed Him, can one imagine what one can expect of the Sai phenomena, who has millions who revere Him! Only a little intelligence is required to ascertain the TRUTH.
[TC: Again, Jagadeesan is using juvenile, faulty logic here, and is also maliciously comparing Baba’s critics to so many Judases. Almost all of these critics want nothing to do with money or fame in exposing Baba’s ongoing molesting of children. They simply, compassionately want to SAVE THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG MEN!]
Moreno’s Response: Timothy Conway, take your shrieking and foaming-at-the-mouth “SAVE THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG MEN” campaign to the alleged victim’s parents who have all (without exception) refused to speak or act on behalf of their alleged children’s molestations. Far be it for critics to posture themselves as moral guardians and stand in place of parents who have never (ever) claimed (even once) that Sathya Sai Baba molested his/her “child”. Critics exhibit all the behaviors of hatred, vindictiveness, anger, obsessiveness and mental instability. Critic’s caustic rodomontades are actually documented psychological behaviors described as the ‘apostate syndrome’.
[JJ:] Has any living being on earth, in his own lifetime motivated so much good and godly work for the needy and manifested so much transformation in millions — to go beyond self and to serve the poor, sick and the needy?
[TC: This point by Jagadeesan highlights the tragedy we have here: namely that Sathya Sai Baba HAS been a force for so much good. But, in what appears to be the most amazing “Jekyll and Hyde” story in the history of humanity, it now seems quite clear that Baba also has a raging sexual appetite, and he psychologically coerces and manipulates young men and boys to satisfy this sexual hunger.]
Moreno’s Response: It is only a “Jekyll and Hyde Story” for those who blindly believe the gossipy rumors they hear and read on the internet. Notice how Timothy Conway used the weasel-word “seems” to describe his allegation that Sathya Sai Baba has a “raging sexual appetite”. Timothy Conway attempts to psychologically coerce and manipulate readers with disinformation and propaganda to satisfy his hunger and rapacious appetite for gossip and pseudo-intellectual tripe. Timothy Conway sincerely believes the allegations are true, just as he sincerely believes that Sathya Sai Baba may molest alleged victims like aliens are alleged to do through abductions. Rather pathetic and laughable, if you ask me.
[JJ:] Would anyone need to set-up such a huge worldwide edifice of selfless service and human values, would anyone have to set up free Super Specialty Hospitals and free Universities and schools in India and around the world and give life saving water to the poor and the needy, to merely seek opportunities to indulge in the type of filth that is being passed around?
[TC: Jagadeesan’s structuring of his question, “Would anyone need to… Would anyone have to…” is mis-leading. Beyond Jagadeesan’s misdirection ploy, the simple fact, most unfortunately, is that Baba, regardless of his “needing” or “having to,” IS molesting boys and young men. Jagadeesan also does not address the serious charges made in “The Findings” written/compiled by David and Faye Bailey, charges also made in other writings and oral venues, that the Supere Specialty Hospital is NOT as “wonderful” as it has been hyped, nor has the water project been anywhere near as “successful” as claimed.]
Moreno’s Response: Timothy Conway is again repeating his fraudulent “child molestation” claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website).
I have provided detailed responses to David Bailey’s The Findings. One will notice how Timothy Conway (in true pseudo-intellectual style) cited David Bailey to undermine and spread doubts about Sathya Sai Baba’s Super Specialty Hospital and Water Project.
Sathya Sai Baba’s prestigious Super Speciality Hospitals have received tremendous amounts of positive feedback from many high ranking Indian officials and doctors from all around the world (Refs: 01 – 02 – 03 – 04 – 05). Unlike PhD Timothy Conway’s pseudo-intellectual references to propaganda, the references I cited were published in newspapers and are verifiable.
Similarly, Sathya Sai Baba’s water projects were all successful and have received a tremendous amount of praise from high ranking Indian officials throughout India. The first drinking water project (completed in 1996) supplies water to 1.2 million people in 730 villages in the drought-prone Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. The second drinking water project, completed in 2004, supplies water to Chennai (formerly known as Madras) through a rebuilt waterway named “Sathya Sai Ganga Canal’. The Chennai water drinking project was praised by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M Karunanidhi. Karunanidhi said that although he is an atheist, he differentiated between good spiritual leaders like Sathya Sai Baba and fake godmen. The third drinking water project, expected to be completed supplied water from the Godavari River to half a million people living in five hundred villages in East and West Godavari Districts. Other completed water projects include the Medak District Project benefiting 450,000 people in 179 villages and the Mahbubnagar District Project benefiting 350,000 people in 141 villages. In January 2007, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust revealed that it would undertake another drinking water project in Latur, Maharashtra (Refs: 01 – 02 – 03 – 04). Again, unlike PhD Timothy Conway’s pseudo-intellectual references to propaganda, the references I cited were published in newspapers and are verifiable.
Timothy Conway blindly believes everything negative he hears about Sathya Sai Baba and trivializes, doubts and dismisses all the good he hears about Sathya Sai Baba (clearly pointing to his Anti-Sai agenda). Instead of citing The Findings, why couldn’t PhD Timothy Conway put his scholarly researching skills to good use and actually substantiate David Bailey’s claims with verifiable references from credible media sources? I’ll tell you why: Timothy Conway is a propagandist who uses his ‘PhD’ title as a distraction and ploy to push his rhetoric, pseudo-morality and pseudo-spirituality against Sathya Sai Baba, Sai Devotees and Sai Proponents.
[JJ:] Are the vibuthi manifestations occuring spontaneously in hundreds of homes around the world, outpouring of kum kum, honey etc, of people’s illness being cured and lives being saved by merely an application of SAI Vibuthi, a touch of His hand, or a prayer to Him, so much a figment of the imagination OR is this not the greatest manifestation of Divine Power that the world has ever witnessed?
[TC: This is a false argument. I myself and numerous other concerned critics grant that amazing and beautiful things are happening around or through the name/form of Sathya Sai Baba. Jagadeesan sets up a false choice limited by the “either-or” Aristotelian logic: he’s trying to force us into thinking that just because amazing things are happening around Sai that THEREFORE Baba must be God and that none of the improprieties are happening. He and other Sai apologists also beg the question as to the source of the miracles around Baba. Is it the personality of the Divine avatar Sathya Narayana Raju doing all these things? Or is it the power of God utilizing the name/form of Sathya Sai? For that matter, it could be Sai Baba of Shirdi who is doing these things through Sathya Narayana Raju, and the latter personality has a shadow side of out-of-control sexual hunger.]
Moreno’s Response: If the world-wide miracles and manifestations attributed to Sathya Sai Baba are true (which even Barry Pittard believes to be the case: Ref), these events would be unprecedented in known history or myth and indicative of a spiritual power that one simply cannot attribute to an ordinary person or yogi. For a small glimpse into these international manifestations, see:

Shirdi Sai Baba never manifested miracles and materializations on a scale as vast and as profuse as those attributed to Sathya Sai Baba. So it is rather amusing when Timothy Conway attempts to argue that Sathya Sai Baba is a “contaminated channel” for Shirdi Sai Baba or that Shirdi Sai Baba is working these miracles through Sathya Sai Baba.
Another important argument that I think Jagadeesan made was: If Sathya Sai Baba possesses this type of paranormal power, then his actions (not matter how enigmatic) cannot be equated with those or an ordinary human being. Of course, Hindu scriptures (which Timothy Conway is a strong promoter and believer) talks about numerous perceived atrocities and questionable behaviors associated with Avatars. For example, Parasurama, the ax-wielding Avatar, was said to have slaughtered every adult Kshatriya on Earth twenty-one times (filling five lakes with blood) because he was filled with revenge at his father’s murder. Instead of condemning Parasurama as a blood-thirsty murderer, he is hailed as an incarnation of Vishnu that relieved the Earth of sinful, destructive and irreligious individuals. Hindu scriptures state that no matter how seemingly immoral or inappropriate an Avatar’s behavior might be, it serves a purpose that humans cannot comprehend. Avatar’s status are determined by the opulences and powers they manifest.
I think the only person who is a “contaminated channel” for love and light is Dr. Timothy Conway.
[JJ:] Use your own judgement! Has your life not changed?
[TC: Again, it is easily seen that millions of followers of Sai have undergone profoundly positive transformations by becoming dedicated aspirants and sevakas in the Sai movement. This still does not in any way offset what now appears to be an INCONTROVERTIBLE EMPIRICAL FACT: Sathya Sai Baba has criminally molested hundreds or thousands of male youth.]
Moreno’s Response: Notice how Timothy Conway again uses the weasel-word “appears”. Now Timothy Conway is asserting that there are “hundreds or thousands” of molestations. At the beginning of this letter, Timothy Conway first alleged there were “dozens” of molestations. Then Timothy Conway changed the number to “dozens or hundreds” of molestations. Now, Timothy Conway is alleging there are “hundreds or thousands” of molestations. Timothy Conway has no clue what he is talking about. He engages in shameless rumor-mongering and attempts to pass off his erroneous accusations and blatant exaggerations as Holy Writ. It is exactly these types of shabby and conspiratorial arguments that make Timothy Conway appear kooky and unbelievable.
In addition, Timothy Conway cannot take a consistent position for or against Sai Baba:
- Timothy Conway: “ I remain convinced that there are paranormal miracles (wondrous anomalies), and ‘deep, mysterious energies,’ perhaps involving multi-dimensional physics and paranormal or supra-normal power, that are occurring around and through the personality of Sathya Sai Baba.”
- Timothy Conway: “Sathya Sai could be an amazingly accomplished but fallen yogi (yogabhrashta)…”
- Timothy Conway: “We should also be aware that these energies and powers could be coming from Sai Baba of Shirdi and/or the Divine Absolute…”
- Timothy Conway: “Perhaps he is just a highly adept but fallen yogi or an inter-dimensionally powerful but contaminated ‘channel’ for the former Sai Baba of Shirdi (d.1918).”
- Timothy Conway: “the powers of someone who has some ‘elemental spirits’ or other entities helping him from interdimensional planes? (–no joke: it’s a very old, worldwide knowledge that one can derive certain powers by contacting such entities).” Ref: Conway Email No. 8.
- Timothy Conway: “Now, a purna avatar would, it seems, incarnate the totality of God, including the polarity play of light-dark, purity-mischief, unattachment-lust, and so on. This is a disturbing concept, but perhaps quite applicable to Baba’s controversial activity. Moreover, the sexual activity, which we now know to apparently involve considerable lust, might be Baba’s way of transmuting the very heavy sexual energy among humanity at this time on the planet.”
- Timothy Conway: “I have sometimes thought that Sai is lustfully ‘taking on’ (on a psychic level) the lust of humanity to clear our sexual karma.”
- Timothy Conway: “I grant that much or most of Baba’s spectacular mission has been about teaching and demonstrating Love.”
- Timothy Conway: “I do believe that there has been an astonishing amount of genuine goodness, compassion and spiritual upliftment in and around Baba.”
[JJ:] Perhaps not, if you are still at the level of the SAI form, SAI miracles and SAI bhajans! But, if you are one who has plunged into making the SAI message a part of your life, your own experience, your own awe regarding what good work has been done and can be achieved to benefit all, will be the only witness you need to testify to the Divine grandeur and the transforming power of the Avarthar of the Kali Yuga!
[TC: More fluff. And Jagadeesan has not established for a fact that Baba is the “Avarthar” (sic, Avatar) of the Kali Yuga.]
Moreno’s Response: Many Sai Devotees believe (from their own first-hand experiences, miracles and observations) that Sathya Sai Baba is an Avatar. Jagadeesan’s letter was written and intended for Sai Devotees, not for Timothy Conway or Ex-Devotees. Therefore, the context of Jagadeesan’s letter is to be understood in this light.
[JJ:] In the Greek legend, Ulysses had to plug his ears and that of his fellow shipmates, so that the false and tempt-ing voices of the “sirens” would not lead them to disaster, as they searched for the golden fleece! Now in our voyage for the “golden age”, the voices of modern sirens are tempting devotees away from Faith, Belief, Goodness and Love, to hate and negativity! This is the Ying / Yang Phenomena, the eternal battle between good and evil and Divinity stands in the middle, blessing all to work out their own karma!
[TC: We’ve got yet more name-calling here: according to Jagadeesan, Baba’s critics are “modern sirens” trying to bring disaster and negativity to the dogmatic true-believer Sai devotees. Also, most unconscionable for a man living within the conspicuous Chinese culture of Malaysia, Jagadeesan completely flubs it when he speaks of “the Ying / Yang Phenomena.” For one thing, he misspells Yin as “Ying”; he incorrectly uses the plural form of the word “phenomena” instead of the appropriate singular; and then, in the worst mistake of all, he equates the ancient Chinese Taoist polarity idea of Yin / Yang with “good and evil,” which no Chinese Taoist would ever do. Jagadeesan is an example of many longtime senior Sai devotees who preach about the beauty and value of all the religions and yet don’t actually study any of these religions. Anyone acquainted with the most remedial level of Taoist study would get the Yin/Yang concept right, but Jagadeesan, who has lived his entire life in the region, surrounded by Taoist literature and temples, and who has taken pride that he can sing a number of bhajans in Chinese along with his fellow Sai devotees with a Chinese background, makes here a blunder of the worst kind.]
Moreno’s Response: It is absolutely true that Timothy Conway and Anti-Sai Activists are “the voices of modern sirens tempting devotees away from Faith, Belief, Goodness and Love, to hate and negativity”. Although I can cite numerous instances to support Jagadeesan’s claim, I will direct readers to the following article that documents Ex-Devotees numerous attacks, defamations and libels against Sathya Sai Baba, Sai Devotees and Sai Proponents: Prashanti Council, Sathya Sai Baba and the Open Letter.
Timothy Conway’s rant on Yin-Yang is an interesting distraction and attack on Jagadeesan. First and foremost, Jagadeesan was never a Taoist. Jagadeesan was an agnostic and strong critic of Sathya Sai Baba until he witnessed first-hand miracles that completely convinced him of Sathya Sai Baba’s divinity (Ref). Anyone acquainted with the most remedial level of knowledge about Malaysia knows that it is predominantly Muslim (about 60%) while Buddhists number around 20%. Therefore, Jagadeesan has not lived his life “surrounded by Taoist literature and temples” as Timothy Conway erroneously claimed. Strangely enough, Timothy Conway (on his website) defined Yin-Yang under “Yang-Yin” (Ref). The term “yin-yang” is always described as “yinyang” in Chinese and Mandarin dialects and never as “yang-yin” as Timothy Conway did on his website.
[JJ:] We do not have an ancient Ulysses to plug our ears! The modern Ulysseses are the selfless service and self-less love that SAI has motivated among those who follow His Teachings! These will be the earplugs that must help us to overcome these treacherous times!
[TC: Unbelievable, but true: Jagadeesan actually wants people to have earplugs so as not to hear the disturb-ing news that Sai is involved in criminal behavior. There is a psychological description for this attitude: PATHOLOGICAL DENIAL. Jagadeesan, like many apologizers for Baba, is so heavily, egocentrically invested in his role as a Sai devotee that he becomes like the stubborn little child who plugs his ears and makes lots of noise so that he can’t face the truth that would challenge him to grow up and become a person of true compassion and integrity.]
Moreno’s Response: To the contrary, Ex-Devotees are stuck in “pathological denial” and are heavily and egocentrically invested in their roles as libelers, propagandists and maligners. It is commonly seen that critics of Sai Baba constantly and unremittingly repeat themselves like brainwashed automatons, hoping to deceive readers with their constant abuse mantras. A relevant quote from Joseph Goebbels:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
Ex-Devotees keep repeating their big lies and viciously attack and shield any perceived threat with their typical ploys of libels, defamations, deceptions and slurs. Timothy Conway is like a stubborn little boy who plugs his ears and makes a lot of noise so he doesn’t have to publicly acknowledge that his so-called “compassion” and “integrity” are huge, hypocritical farces.
[JJ:] I pray to all! Do not transmit the filth to others! Do not allow the filth to contaminate your mind!
[TC: If Jagadeesan had lived in Nazi Germany in the 1930s, I wonder which side he would have taken? The side of truth, freedom, morality, virtue, love and nonviolence, or, rather, the side of the Nazis? Jagadeesan is apparently unaware, like so many other Sai devotees in positions of great responsibility (Goldstein, Bozzani, Hawley, et al.) that there are MANDATED REPORTING RULES that REQUIRE all adults who have any suspicion of child molestation behavior to EXPOSE THIS BEHAVIOR, PROTECT CHILDREN FROM THIS BEHAVIOR, GET THERAPEUTIC HELP FOR THE VICTIMS OF THIS MOLESTATION BEHAVIOR, AND LEGALLY PROSECUTE THE WRONG-DOERS.]
Moreno’s Response: Here again, we have another one of Timothy Conway’s holier-than-thou and extremist comments insinuating that Jagadeesan would have sided with the Nazis. Let me repeat this again: Sathya Sai Baba and the Sai Organization have never (ever) been charged with any crime, sexual or otherwise. PhD Timothy Conway is a fanatic who attempts to con readers into thinking that Sathya Sai Baba has engaged in criminal activity, although he cannot provide a scintilla of legal substantiation to support his fraudulent claims. Rather, Timothy Conway relies on internet stories he read and blindly believed.
Once again, possibly “hundreds” or “thousands” of alleged victims and their mothers and fathers have all (without exception) refused to do the “moral” and “ethical” thing as there are no known “child molestation” charges, court cases or basic police complaints filed against Sathya Sai Baba in India.
This indisputable fact strongly solidifies the argument that Sathya Sai Baba never molested “children”.
[JJ:] If you feel you do not want to follow the SAI path, by all means step aside, but do not incur the sin of coming between God and His devotees, the message of every vahana (vehicle) in a Hindu temple.
[TC: Baba’s concerned critics now feel that they MUST come between BABA and his devotees, especially his young male devotees, so that they will not be molested by this sexual predator.]
Moreno’s Response: Sathya Sai Baba is not a “sexual predator”. Hello? Timothy Conway, are you there? Where are all the parents who have had their children molested by a “sexual predator”? Why have possibly “hundreds“ to “thousands” of alleged victims and their mothers and fathers all (without exception) failed to file charges, public grievances, basic police complaints or court cases against Sathya Sai Baba in India?
Alleged victim’s stories and accounts are mostly repeated, clarified, explained, embellished, changed, furthered and argued by non-victims who were never abused themselves and who never witnessed an incident of alleged abuse themselves. This also holds true for Timothy Conway.
[JJ:] For those who love SAI, let us do more! Let us manifest His miracles, His “Vibuthi” (Divine Glory) in soci-ety, by we ourselves becoming His Vibuthi, His Divine miracles, by transforming society to Love and Unity, through our own transformed selfless Love and selfless Service. By this means let us achieve inner Peace, Joy and Contentment that is the only promise for all who follow the Path Divine!
[TC: Baba has repeatedly declared that Sai devotees should live according to the laws and rules of their re-spective countries. Thus, concerned critics of Baba’s molesting of children have stepped forth, according to the mandated reporting rules, to expose Baba’s sexual improprieties.]
Moreno’s Response: I think alleged victims and their parents should be the ones who step forth, according to mandated reporting rules, and make their case against Sai Baba. However, what we see is that alleged victims and their parents all (without exception) refuse to file charges, public grievances, basic police complaints or court cases against Sathya Sai Baba in India. Critics, who have never been sexually abused, are the ones making all the fuss.
[JJ:] For those who ask “Why does He not stop them?” Baba’s own words on Page 3 testify! However, let me ask also “Why should He?” Swami neither praises those who praise Him nor condemns those who demean Him – Di-vinity stands in the middle blessing all – those who perpetrate good and those who choose to do evil!
[TC: Actually, in recent discourses, Baba is strongly lashing out at his critics and praising those who defend him. What kind of behavior is this? Not the Sai whom Kasturi and Jagadeesan have described as standing equanimiously and compassionately above the fray.]
Moreno’s Response: Sathya Sai Baba has every right to defend himself and deny the allegations, which he has done. It doesn’t matter what Sathya Sai Baba says or doesn’t say, critics will never be appeased. Despite the allegations and despite his physical hardships, Sathya Sai Baba has demonstrated considerable and amazing equanimity and fortitude.
[JJ:] Is this unusual? Is this not the way of Divinity? Did not Christ know He would be betrayed and crucified? Did not Rama know Sita would be captured? Did not Krishna know that His peace mission to the Kauravas would fail and did not Buddha know that the food offered to him with “false” love was poisoned? Yet those great beings allowed the drama to unfold acting as though they were helpless victims of circumstances! Why? Simply because Divinity has already established a Divine law of Karma – and this must take its course and because “Dharma will by itself destroy those who go against Dharma!” And so it was for Judas, so it was for Ravana and so it was for the Kauravas..and so it will be for all who manifest Evil!
[TC: I am tempted to retort, “and so it will be for all who manifest Evil in the form of molesting children and conspiring to cover-up this serious violation of the rights of children!”]
Moreno’s Response: As one can see, Timothy Conway neurotically parrots his fraudulent child molestation claims (which I already discussed and refuted in-depth on my website) like a person afflicted with broken-record-syndrome.
[JJ:] Let us all pray for them, let us not condemn them. Let us echo the words of a great being and pray – “Forgive them Oh Lord for they know not what they do!”
[TC: Right now it is Baba’s concerned critics who are praying “Forgive them Oh Lord for they (those conspiring to deny, cover-up and/or rationalize Baba’s behavior) know not what they do.” Jagadeesan here again says “let us not condemn them” after he has spent so many words doing just this -- comparing Baba’s critics to “demons” and “Judases” and “hatefully destructive sirens.”]
Moreno’s Response: Actually, I could similarly pray to God to forgive Timothy Conway and Ex-Devotees because “they know not what they do”. However, I will withhold this prayer because it is my opinion that Timothy Conway and Ex-Devotees know exactly what they are doing and they do it maliciously and in full awareness. Far be it for Timothy Conway to point his self-righteous fingers at Jagadeesan when he accused him of being like the Nazis.
[JJ:] Please reflect on this! Reject what I say if you so choose but first REFLECT and then circulate to whomever you want to and act accordingly.
[TC: Jagadeesan, I must certainly REJECT what you have said because I have spent so many years in fact REFLECTING on all this and have come to the conclusion that it is simply criminal behavior for us NOT to stand up and demand accountability from Baba and from the Sai organization for stories of improprieties that can no longer be glossed over as mere “rumors” or “gossip.”]
Moreno’s Response: If the allegations are not just “rumors” or “gossip” as Timothy Conway contends, where are all the alleged victims and their parents? Where are all the charges, public grievances, basic police complaints and court cases? Timothy Conway said (out of his own mouth on his website) that he defected from Sathya Sai Baba in 2001. Timothy Conway’s letter to Jagadeesan was dated March 12th 2001. So how exactly did Timothy Conway spend “so many years” reflecting on the allegations when he defected (at most) 3 months earlier?
Timothy Conway, sit down and take your seat. Before you stand up making all sorts of demands, you should be preceded by the alleged parents to alleged victims. You and Ex-Devotees are sole voices in an empty auditorium. You beat your own drums and you applaud your own sermons.
Sai Ram and God bless! Yours in service, J. Jagadeesan cc Sri Indulal Shah / P.S. – Bhagavan Baba does not need my advocacy or defense! I merely write this for the benefit of my SAI broth-ers and sisters and especially youth, who should not, like the people in the Middle East 2000 years ago, crucify a Divine Being, who in later times became a saviour for millions!!
[TC: It is terribly ironic - indeed, shameful -- that Jagadeesan especially mentions “youth” in his closing, since they are the ones who have been victimized by the hundreds or thousands in this terrible, ongoing saga. As for the idea that we are “crucifying a Divine Being,” none of Baba’s concerned critics want to “crucify” him. We simply want him to come out of the closet and stop sexually molesting male children and young men. We want accountability, apologies, and amends-making from Baba and from his longtime organizational accomplices. We also want the entry to the private interview room left open, and we want a chaperon to be present on all occasions that Baba is in the company of male youth, especially minors. We would like to have a non-adversarial mediation session held at Puttaparthi or Bangalore to resolve this terrible ordeal. If Baba is operating from the truly Divine God-Self, this should be no problem. The illustrious Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950), one of India’s most beloved sages, had to go before legal authorities to defend himself against a psychopathic accuser. If the Maharshi had to put up with this “indignity” on such a patently trumped-up charge, then surely Baba can step out from behind the shield created by his pathetic, sycophantic yes-men and answer the legitimate charges against him. You see, this is really about Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Nonviolence -- Sathya, Dharma, Shanti, Prema and Ahimsa. In the end, these Divine characteristics will win out.
Moreno’s Response: I know this is getting terribly redundant, but Timothy Conway again made reference to child molestations, a fraudulent claim that has already been discussed and refuted in-depth on my website. Timothy Conway should be making demands from alleged victims and their families before he makes demands from Sathya Sai Baba and the Sai Organization.
Timothy Conway’s reference to Ramana Maharshi is rather amusing and actually argues against the absurd arguments he attempts to make against Sathya Sai Baba. Unlike the alleged “psychopathic accuser” who actually filed a court case against Ramana Maharshi (Ref), all of the alleged victims (without exception) have refused and failed to file a basic police complaint or court case against Sathya Sai Baba in India. Why should Sathya Sai Baba answer charges against him when no one has filed a court case in the first place? Surely these alleged victims can step out from behind the shield created by pathetic, gullible, sycophantic “yes-men” Ex-Devotees and file their “legitimate” charges against Sai Baba in a court of law in India? All alleged victims (without exception) have been unable to obtain legal representation despite:
- The lucrative prospect of a successful suit by money-hungry lawyers (Sathya Sai Baba’s assets are assessed to be worth billions of dollars by ex-devotees).
- The offer of free “world-class legal resources” from Barry Pittard (Ref).
- Ex-Devotees and Barry Pittard’s constant claims that they are in correspondence with “international lawyers” and “top lawyers”.
- The vast publicity a lawsuit against Sathya Sai Baba would generate to their cause.
- The opportunity (whether the lawsuits are successful or not) to present to the world the alleged “evidence” they claim they possess.
Yes, this is really about Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Nonviolence and alleged victim’s apathy (along with shocking revelations, as in The Case Of Alaya Rahm) has thoroughly compromised the Anti-Sai Movement and they now attempt to argue their case in secret and under the cloak of confidentiality where they:
- Filter and selectively choose who gets the view the “real evidence” against Sathya Sai Baba.
- Control their wholly one-sided and biased information.
- Cannot be held publicly accountable for their words and allegations made in secrecy.
After having every opportunity to divulge their alleged “real evidence” to the BBC and to various Journalists partial to their cause, Ex-Devotees have been unable to implicate Sathya Sai Baba or the Sai Organization with any crime. It certainly appears that the Truth has finally prevailed. Critics have no where to go but deeper into their gutters.
As it turns out, J. Jagadeesan and Sai Devotees were right: The allegations against Sathya Sai Baba are nothing more than malicious smear and hate campaigns based on highly questionable accounts spread by questionable characters who are anything but honest.
